Pewter Style Text
I call this text effect Pewter Style Text. If you are looking for a text that has that rough looking metal found in old style mugs and plates this just might work for you. Again it is a simple effect to accomplish and you need no special filters.

Step #1

  1. Starting at the Menu Bar or Tool Bar select a New Image
  2. Set the Image at a Width of 375 and a Height of 75 Background Color White and 16.7 Million.

Step #2

  1. Now go to the Tool Palette and select the Text Tool
  2. Set the Foreground Color in the Color Palette to White
  3. Place the mouse in the center of the Image Box and left click, this will open the Add Text dialog box.

  4. Select a text of your choice (a fat text works best). Do not de-select the text during this tutorial
  5. Make sure that Antialias, Centered and Floating are checked.
  6. Enter your text and say OK. You should now have an image that appears something like below.

Step #3

  1. Now we can start adding the effects. From the Menu Bar select Image, Effects, Chisel.

  2. Set the Size at One(1)and make sure that the Transparent button is selected.

Step #4

  1. Again from the Menu Bar select Image, Other, Hot Wax.

  2. Apply this four (4) times.

Step #5

  1. From the Menu Bar again select Image, Other, Emboss
  2. Apply this two (2) times.

  3. You can now de-select the text and save it to your graphics directory, or go one more step and add a drop shadow.
  4. To add a drop shadow go to the Menu Bar select Image, Effects, Drop Shadow

  5. Use the following settings:
    Shadow=Black
    Opacity=100
    Blur=10
    Vertical=4
    Horizontal=4
  6. Select OK and de-select and you are finished.
