I call this text effect Pewter Style Text. If you are looking for a text that has that rough looking metal found in old style mugs and plates this just might work for you. Again it is a simple effect to accomplish and you need no special filters.
Step #1
- Starting at the Menu Bar or Tool Bar select a New Image

- Set the Image at a Width of 375 and a Height of 75 Background Color White and 16.7 Million.
Step #2
- Now go to the Tool Palette and select the Text Tool
- Set the Foreground Color in the Color Palette to White
- Place the mouse in the center of the Image Box and left click, this will open the Add Text dialog box.
- Select a text of your choice (a fat text works best). Do not de-select the text during this tutorial
- Make sure that Antialias, Centered and Floating are checked.
- Enter your text and say OK. You should now have an image that appears something like below.
Step #3
- Now we can start adding the effects. From the Menu Bar select Image, Effects, Chisel.
- Set the Size at One(1)and make sure that the Transparent button is selected.
Step #4
- Again from the Menu Bar select Image, Other, Hot Wax.
- Apply this four (4) times.
Step #5
- From the Menu Bar again select Image, Other, Emboss
- Apply this two (2) times.
- You can now de-select the text and save it to your graphics directory, or go one more step and add a drop shadow.
- To add a drop shadow go to the Menu Bar select Image, Effects, Drop Shadow
- Use the following settings:
Shadow=Black
Opacity=100
Blur=10
Vertical=4
Horizontal=4
- Select OK and de-select and you are finished.
