In this tutorial you will learn to apply an effect that gives your text the look that as if it is cut out of the background. For this effect to look its best you need to use it on a colored or textured background.
Step #1
- Start by going to the Menu Bar or the Tool Bar and select a New Image.
- In the New Image dialog box set the Width to 350 Height to 75. Background Color to Blue Image Type 16.7 Million 24 bit.
- Select OK.
Step #2
- From the Paint Palette set the forground color to White.
- On the Tool Palette select the Text Tool.
- Place your mouse cursor in the center of the Image Window and left click. This will open the Add Text Dialog Box.
- Select the text of your choise. I used Arial Black.
- Type in some text. Do not deselect the text.
Step #3
- From the Menu Bar select Image, Effects, CutOut
- Now with the Cut Out Dialog Box opened make sure that the Fill Color is not checked. Set the Shadow Color to Black. Set the Opacity=100, Blur=5, Vertical=2, Horizontal=2.
- Deselect the text.
- Save this Image to your image directory and you are done.
